THE FAMILY SOUND: pop/folk sibling harmonies
Raised in the Pacific Northwest, Derik Nelson & Family's signature sound features velvety three-part vocal harmonies only a family can deliver. They've garnered nearly 3 million views on YouTube, and toured over 40 locations across the West Coast to raise money for music education. Derik has appeared regularly as the lead guitarist on television's "Glee," among other shows.
DNF's acoustic college show features a mix of original music and cover songs, with unique 3-part harmony interpretations of popular hits from artists like Coldplay, Keith Urban, Michael Jackson, Justin Timberlake, Katy Perry, Bruno Mars, The Lumineers, and more! This intimate acoustic performance gives audiences an inside look into the creative process and sibling bond of Derik Nelson & Family.
A notable songwriter, Derik helped to shape the curriculum for University of Southern California's Popular Music degree program. A particular focus in original music composition, songwriting, and the creative process of all three siblings' artistic disciplines will be highlighted for college acoustic opportunities. Derik is currently recording his 7th original full-length album. He received first place in the Indie International Songwriting Competition for his original song "The Way It's Gonna Go." He was awarded a songwriting scholarship from The Beach Boys' Brian Wilson, and received Best Male Artist in the 2016 Acoustic Music Awards
